El Salvador Day 4 Hump Day for first week.

Day 4 Hump Day.

Really good day! We had 2 baptisms from a Bible study conducted by the team. They were a couple of young teen age girls. And then tonight in services a lady came forward and was baptized after services. I thought I would put the exciting stuff at the beginning of the report.

Most of the clinic activities were pretty normal today. We did turn people away at the end of the day but still only saw a couple of hundred people. Seems most want to see the doctor. Look out week 2 people we are going to be slammed. Rest up this week.

We finally got around to posting the reports from previous days today. Hopefully some of you can keep track of what is going on. We have had the use of a couple of cell phones to make contact back home as well. Sure not like the early days when we weren't basically incommunicato from the time we left the airport until we came back from the field.

I was able to read the posts this afternoon. We appreciate the prayers. We understand Bill Staggs is to have surgery next Tuesday and Charles White had a heart attack last Saturday. That is all we have heard on Charles. Please pray for those men as well as the work here in El Salvador. Your support is much appreciated.

As I write this it is 8:38 Central time. They don't do day light savings time down here. Week One folks will be really confused on time when they return. They leave on Central Standard Time, go thru Atlanta on Eastern Daylight time and then land on CDT. Week 2 folks fly thru Houston so their time confusion will be quite less.

We seem to be creating a power overload situation here at the hotel. Didn't have that problem in Buenos Aires! Saturday night we lost power for an hour or so due to the wires serving the hotel overheating and melting. Tonight we lost power around 8 pm as the power box coming into the building caught fire. This repair may take a little longer. The rooms in the central part of the hotel have power but not the rest of the complex and neither does the water pump. No showers for now. No lights for most and no A/C. Didn't have that problem in San Augustin. We had one night that there where the wind blew full force all night. But I am digressing.

Our crack maintenance and kitchen crew got creative and filled some waterbags for showers. After hanging one in the shower Jack informed us that they have the reserve water on for some rooms and we are in the process of taking Navy showers.

Tomorrow we are going to try to change our routine some to speed up the process and get more people thru without turning anyone away. I don't know how many we will be able to get to and thru the clinic. We'll just have to see how it goes.

Keep praying for the work.
